  3. Leasing Your Land for Shale and Solar

    Across the state of Ohio, landowners are receiving offers to lease their property for the development of oil and natural gas wells, pipelines or utility-scale solar projects. While the state is regionally divided between the two, with shale development primarily occurring on the eastern side of the state and solar development being concentrated in southwestern Ohio (with some exceptions), the questions about legal agreements, construction and oversight of both are similar.

  4. Dial Gauge Pressure Canning Testing

    OSU Extension will be testing dial gauge pressure canners on by appointment only.  There are additional pressure canner testing events happening across the state.  You can register for an appointment at https://go.osu.edu/2020pressurecannertesting .  Appointments are 15-minutes, so please arrive on time.  You only need to bring the pressure canner lid to be tested.

    Remember, home food preservation can be safe, simple and easy to learn!

    Unfortunately, with COVID-19, the tough decision was made to cancel this year’s 25th Annual Scholarship Banquet Dinner. However, we wanted to find a way to recognize our 2020 4-H Scholarship Winners! At the 2020 Gallia County Fair, we plan to Display a booth with all the scholarship winner in the 4-H Activity Building during the fair!

    Special Thanks to all our 2020 scholarship Donors! Without your continued support and contributions this program would not be possible!

  8. Online Goat and Sheep Tag In

    Goat and Sheep Exhibitors There will NOT be a face to face TAG IN this year! Instead the fair board is asking that you to take pictures of your scrapie tags and upload them to 4-H Online! (This is just like we did with the hog pictures last year) You should upload two pictures of the same animal - one should be a head shot showing the scrapie tag in the ear and the numbers need to be readable. The other should be a close up of the same animal's tag in the ear, so that we can ID then numbers! There is also a place on 4-H online for you to type in those same numbers!

    Gallia County Cattlemen’s Association Scholarship Application

    Eligibility: All Gallia County residents actively involved in beef industry. Must be a current high school senior or enrolled in their first year of college.
    Previous scholarship winners are not eligible.

    Criteria Based for Award: The Gallia County Cattlemen’s Association will utilize an outside committee to review each application. This committee will review each application and score the application based on a rubric system set forth by the board.
